Who are candidates for a transplant?
Men and women that have a correct diagnosis of the cause of their hair loss will be candidates if they comply with certain criteria, and that in a personalized manner we will evaluate when we examine a particular patient, rendering to same his/her best options from the multiple treatments available.
In order to be a good candidate for a hair transplant, a patient-to-be must have a good hair density on the donor area and an adequate flexibility.
We must also bear in mind the dimension of the area to be covered, as we need to have an idea of the grafts required to cover the problem area and of the results that may be obtained.
We will evaluate color, texture, as of direction and growth angle of hair. According to patient’s age and balding stage experimented, we must try to predict future loss pattern, as new hair is as important as trying to maintain the ones that are still present.
What are the Megasessions ?
They are, as the name defines same, big sessions, in which a good number of micro grafts are inserted in one sole session of hair transplant, which guarantees both better and quick results.
What are the Follicular Units, the Mini and
Micro-Grafts ?
Micro-grafts are very tiny parts of the scalp that contain one or two follicular units, and are the angular stone of the natural results that can be obtained nowadays.
Using this technique, Maricarmen Morales, M.D., D.S., recreates in an artistic fashion the frontal area that once was there, obtaining a natural look. Using the micro-grafts and the mini-grafts that contains from 3-5 hairs density is attained. This technique substitutes the old transplants that looked like "doll’s hair”, which were rejected.
Which is the ideal age to have a hair transplant ?
Hair loss is a continual process that may begin as early as at age 15-20, as it may also begin at age 40.
The most important is that each patient, independently from his/her age, has an alternative to restore his/her lost hair. We do want to make you conscious that the prevention on an early stage is the key for your future look.

Will transplanted hair fall in the future ?
Hair transplanted will not fall, it will be permanent, this because the hair is harvested from the back or side areas where the follicular units are healthy and have not been damaged by the ’dihydro-testosterone’, and when they are transplanted to the new area they are transplanted with these same characteristics.
Will a visible scar remain on the donor area ?
No. Thanks to the flexibility of the scalp, same allows a part of the scalp without altering its anatomy, and resulting of a lineal scar that will be covered by hair as you comb same.
Is the surgery costly ?
Hair transplant is an aesthetic surgery that will definitely restore your hair loss or baldness problem. At Micropel we excel to make this dream come true. Each patient is evaluated personally, and depending of the area that is to be treated, we will inform number of sessions that is required. We charge by session. We do not charge by follicular units or by grafts, and in this way the patient will always benefit and will be satisfied with the results obtained.

Which other options we have available nowadays ?
On the market they are multiple products for hair loss problems, but only two substances are approved by the FDA for these purposes.
These substances are ‘Finasteride’ (Propecia) and ‘Minoxidil’ (Rogaine), both alternatives are advised, moreover, on young patients in whom we want to stop or diminish the miniaturizing process.
We believe in the combination of methods in order to obtain optimal results.
We wish to remind you that new transplanted hair is as important as preserving the ones that you still have.
These products seems to have a better effect in the upper part than on the frontal area, but they are effective, making the hair look healthier and of an acceptable density.
Does the Hair Cloning Exists ?
As a result of an infinity number of researching that has bee made, there is a possibility – not of hair cloning – but, of tissue engineering based on cells therapy. This is performed by separation of cells from the hair follicles that are harvested from the patient’s donor area.
The advantage of this method is to obtain unlimited quantity of hair follicles and with only extracting a tiny portion of scalp tissue, separate ten follicles, multiplying them on the laboratory by the thousands and then implanting or transplanting them again to the same patient that donated same.
Is this procedure painful ?
This procedure is performed with local anesthesia and a mild sedation. It is not painful. Patient will be reclined in a dental type chair-bed, watching television o listening to his/her choice of music. Time span for the procedure is approximately 5 to 6 hours, depending on the case, but patient will be comfortable at all times.
How many days must I be deprived of my activities ?
Of course, on the day of the surgery. On the following day we will remove bandages that we left only for that night, and we will proceed to wash your hair, and on the next 24 hours you can return to your work, with the indications, by writing, which we will hand-in to you at Micropel.
No extreme exercise may be performed for the next three (3) weeks from your surgery, nor be exposed to the direct or intense sun rays for the next two (2) months. You can wear a cap, if you wish.
Which analysis do I require before a hair transplant surgery ?
Each and every patient has to bring with him a laboratory analysis and a cardiovascular evaluation.
